The Chromebook is familiar and old concept of an ultraportable notebook which runs Chrome OS but the Chromebox is completely new concept. The Chromebox is like a miniPC which runs the Chrome OS for the people who wants some screen flexibility in their Chrome OS experience.
The Samsung Chromebook Series 5 550 which is powered by an Intel Core processor with a 12.1-inch (1,280-by-800 resolution) screen and will weighting 3.3 pounds. The system comes with 2.4/5GHz dual-band Wi-Fi alone or combination of Wi-Fi and 3G wireless with Gigabit Ethernet. It is reported that the Chromebook boasts six hours of battery life under constant use and will give backup for six days under standby mode. It includes 4GB of memory, a 4-in 1 memory slot, two USB 2.0 ports, HD Webcam, DisplayPort++ and Kensigton lock port. The Chromebook will cost around $449 (for Wi_fi only) and $549 (Wi-Fi+3G).
The Samsung Chromebox series 3 is a small, square shape miniPC that extends ChromeOS to the desktop. It will come with 4GB of RAM memory with Intel Core processor. Chromebox includes Dual band 2.4/5GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi with standard Gigabit Ethernet processor. The chromebox will have better connectivity with six USB 2.0 ports, two DisplayPort++ jacks, DVI, and a Bluetooth 3.0. The Chromebox will let ChromeOS user to connect a large screen monitor including 1,920-by-1,200 resolution displays. It will cost around for $329.
The Chromebook and Chromebox will boot faster than the previous Chrome OS system, and feature better performance than previous one because it consit of core-based processor with HD intregated graphics. It is improvement over the Atom-powered Chromebook from 200-2011. The Chromebook and Chromebox which is intregated with ChromeOS with Chrome web browser have the Chrome web store for more featured apps like Angry BIrs and Netfix.
Both the Chromebook and Chromebox will be available online in US, starting from May 29 and will be available worldwide from June.
